No Way That Just Happened

Tomorrow is the first day back to school for Carrie. Traditionally that is a pretty emotional-rollercoaster kind of day... but Carrie helps me get through it.

But seriously, since Carrie will continue working until we have a baby, every time a new school year starts, it is a reminder to both of us that another year has passed. While we are extremely grateful for the time we have together, and we don't have any regrets, certain milestones just make you wonder, "what if?"

For example, "What if our new caseworker called us tonight about meeting with a potential birthmom?"

Well, then we'd probably be really excited (while understanding that the birthmom will be meeting with other couples as well, so nothing is certain) and plan to meet the birthmom in the next few days. We'd likely be super excited about the possibility of having a Christmas baby that would likely be born around the same time as our Ethiopian baby. We'd talk about them growing together and going through high school together. How fun would that be?

No WAY that just happened.

Oh yeah, and our new caseworker's name is Deborah. She sounded really nice on the phone.
